A walk through the vines at Hush Heath, home of Balfour, and a tasting of three of their wines.

A short visit to Balfour Winery on the Hush Heath estate near Staplehurst, the home of Balfour Brut Rosé. A guide walks you through the vineyard and explains how the wines are made, then you taste three of them. It takes about an hour, and the listing says it is wheelchair accessible.
It is a quick, low-key introduction to one of Kent's best-known estates. Balfour also has a free self-guided estate walk, so the value here lies in the guide and the three wines.
There is plenty to stay on for afterwards: the Cellar Door shop, platters, and lunch in the Winemakers' Kitchen upstairs. Tastings are for over-18s. Without a car, Marden station has a free shuttle to the winery at weekends.
Best for: anyone short of time who wants a first look at Balfour, perhaps before lunch on the estate.
Opening times, food, how to get there and a map are in our full guide to Balfour.
